Hello and Happy New Year from Dordan Manufacturing!
I am back from the International 2013 Consumer Electronics Show and boy howdy do I have cool updates for you!
First of all, Vegas is an amazing place to hold a convention; and CEA, the company that produces CES with its partners SES and GES, is a machine of an organizer! I am SO impressed by the efficiency of the show organizers and ease of being a first time exhibitor that I actually filled out the “customer feedback” form distributed to exhibitors at the show’s conclusion, ha!
Check out this photo from my hotel room!
We arrived in Vegas the day before the show began to set-up Dordan's new and improved booth; we were located in the Sustainable Planet Tech Zone in the Venetian Ballroom, which as we soon came to discover, was the best place we could have been! Here is our booth all gussied up:
The first day of the show the doors opened at 10:00 and the aisles were instantly flooded with consumer electronic enthusiasts. Microsoft’s “design center” was located in the middle of our hall, which showcased the various new innovations being introduced at the Show. The Sustainable Planet Tech Zone, which I did not leave the premises of until lunch, contained several super duper interesting new products and technologies. For instance, the company located directly across the aisle from Dordan was Horizon Fuel Cell Technologies, which manufactures hydrogen fuel cells that can be used to power just about anything. The items on display at CES were the “portable hydrogen fuel cell products,” like phone chargers and toys. Apparently—and trust me, I myself am totally flabbergasted by the “too good to be true nature of this technology”—these portable little guys only require sunlight and water to create power: the solar power separates the hydrogen atom from the water molecule, which then is amassed and used for energy. Here is a picture of the portable hydrogen fuel cell toy car on display:
Later, because I managed to break my phone charger, the guy at the Horizon Fuel Cell Technologies booth let me charge my phone with one of the portable hyrdogen fuel cell chargers!
At lunch I grabbed a copy of the CES Daily, which I submitted Dordan’s PR to in the slightest hopes they may feature it in the publication. AND GUESS WHAT?!? Dordan’s release, which described our Bio Resin Show N Tell on display at CES, was included in the first day of the show coverage! AHHHH. When hundreds of thousands of exhibitors are introducing new products and services at the world’s largest trade show, imagine my shock should the editors choose to include a release from Dordan Manufacturing! Anywho, here is a photo of the feature:
The second day of the Show was unbelievably busy; perhaps this was because a lot of attendees went to the Las Vegas Convention Center first, which is its own building entirely separate from the Venetian. Whatever the reason, we didn’t care, as we had tons of interest in Dordan’s consumer electronics packaging and sustainability tools and services. So much so, that Dordan was actually INTERVIEWED by CES TV! Imagine this…
Here I am, doing the booth thing, when all of a sudden CEA and a film crew approach me, requesting a two-minute interview on Dordan’s sustainable products and services. YIKES. Have you seen Old School when Will Ferrell is competing in the debate contest and blacks out while delivering quite an impressive answer? Well, that’s what I felt like, trying to squeeze as much content as I could into exactly 2 minutes with no previous rehearing. In 3…2…1…
My next post will describe feedback from the last day of International 2013 CES, including information on a bag that uses solar power to charge your cell phone while out and about!
